What are the Visa Requirements for Uganda?

Just like any other country in the world, travelling to Uganda may necessitate one to acquire a visa before or on arrival in the country. Uganda has got several types of visas that it provides to different type of travellers that would wish to enter the country. The several types of visas include Ordinary visa or Single entry visa, the business visa, multiple entry visa, Transit visa, and Student visa. All the above types of visas can be obtained by travellers by either applying for eVisa or visa on arrival.

Visa application form. For online orders, please download, print and sign Uganda visa application, prepared by our system under your account.

Original passport. The passport must be valid at least six months after the intended date of departure from the territory of Uganda and has at least two blank visa pages.

Passport-type photograph. Include a passport style photo, with a white background, taken within the last 6 months. You may also choose to upload a photo to your order for us to print. There is a surcharge associated with this service.

Proof of status. A copy of immigration status in the country of residence such as a resident card, work, or study permit

Itinerary. A copy of round trip tickets or detailed itinerary for the duration of the trip in the country. The applicant’s name must be on itinerary

Yellow fever. A copy of the International Certificate of Vaccination (ICV) for yellow fever. To learn more about the yellow fever vaccination or to locate a vaccination clinic, please visit the CDC’s yellow fever resource page .

Proof of accommodation. A copy of hotel reservations or other lodgings for the duration of the trip. The applicant’s name must be on the reservation.

Personal invitation. If visiting friends or family, you must provide letter of invitation with the contact information of the host and visitor, purpose and duration of the visit, confirmation of accommodation including the address, signature and date.

Tourist Visa Policy for Uganda

The tourist visa policy for Uganda states that there are currently approximately 10 nationalities which do not need a visa for tourism in the country, as long as the stay does not exceed 90 days.

The tourist eVisa for Uganda is available to travelers of almost every nationality in the world, and has been implemented by the Ugandan government specifically to facilitate entry to the country for tourism and gradually replace the mostly defunct visa on arrival system.

All other foreign passport holders are required to obtain a Ugandan tourist visa to visit the country for leisure purposes. The simplest way to do this is to get  an electronic visa through an online application.

Eligible applicants are able to complete the Uganda eVisa application in a matter of minutes, to receive an approved tourist visa sent by email. Then can then print a copy to present upon arrival at Ugandan border control.

How Much Do Uganda Visas Cost?

The Ugandan visa cost depends on how long you plan to stay in Uganda. Costs can range from $50 to $ 200; however the costs are subject to changes from the Ugandan Government.

Single entry e-visas start at around $50. An East African Tourist e-visa starts at $100. If you’re planning multiple entries into Uganda with an e-visa, pricing ranges from $100 to over $200, depending on length of visa and similar factors. Please note, the Ugandan government can change fee amounts at any time. Fees do not include processing, service, consular, postage or other charges.

Are Any Vaccines Required for Uganda?

Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required for all travelers to Uganda. Hepatitis A, typhoid and routine immunizations may be recommended for your trip.
